Division 1
St Lomans Mullingar 1.11 Garrycastle 1.10
St Lomans continued their unbeaten record in the league with a narrow victory over Garrycastle in Lakepoint Park on Friday last.
Garrycastle started the brighter and a fisted goal from Dessie Dolan and a converted 45 metre free from goalkeeper Cathal Mullin gave them an early lead. The damage could have been worse but for some great interceptions from Neil O Toole and Gerry Grehan. St Lomans finally settled into the game and impressive runs from David Morgan saw him turn creator for points from Garrett Hickey and Shane Dempsey. The blues soon drew level with points from Paul Sharry and a Shane Dempsey free before Dessie Dolan regained the oppositions advantage with two pointed frees. Full forward Shane Dempsey added to his tally before a wonderful kick from distance from Tom Lambden levelled the scores just before the break.
St Lomans made the perfect start to the second half when Conor Cochrane set up Garrett Hickey who finished to the net. The southsiders reduced the margin with a point but St Lomans second half dominance was used to full effect with points from Paul Sharry(2) and Shane Dempsey(2). Garrycastle battled back into the game and Michael Monaghan(2) and Dessie Dolan(2) reduced the margin before another point from Tommy Lambden secured the win.
