Southern Gaels Club Notes

SG Trio for Westmeath U13 Squad

Congratulations to Cillian Geary, Gearóid McCarthy and Ruairí Ó Duibhir who all lined out for the Westmeath U13 Development Squad against Carlow last Saturday. The lads are three of seven Southern Gaels hurlers that have been selected for the squad but unfortunately the other four, Aaron Murphy, Dara Shortall, Dean Burns and Killian Keegan couldn’t attend on Saturday. The match was played in the Carlow Centre of Excellence in Feenagh and the three that all started featured strongly in the performance and will continue their development in the new year representing the club at the highest level.

Sunday Training Sessions

The Sunday training sessions continue on the Gaelscoil campus with the new AstroTurf coming into its own for the great numbers that are hurling with the U10s and U12s. In the Gaelscoil Hall the U14s and U16s are engaging in some strength and conditioning with Martin Geary and Ger O’Donoghue and the players are benefiting greatly from this targeted training.

Tuesday Marist Sessions

Numbers continue to grow for the Tuesday session for the Academy(U6s) and U8s, and more are welcome all the time. These sessions are invaluable to the future development of the club and if numbers continue to grow as much as they have done so this year the future looks bright. Thanks to all the parents and mentors that are making this such a success.

These session have finished for 2019 but will be back in full swing in the New Year. Get in touch for more details!

SG Get-Together 22nd December

Keep the night of the 22nd free for a Southern Gaels Get-Together in Áras Chiaráin from 8pm till late. This is a great chance to catch up on old friends and new members to the club and all are welcome to join us for some hurling talk. No doubt there will be a lot of chat about the great year the club has just had and plans for world domination in 2020 will undoubtedly continue until the small hours.
