Kerry hurling boss Fintan O’Connor says there’s “a huge amount” for his side to play for this weekend as they face Westmeath with Division 1 status for 2020 on the line.
The Kingdom head into the Ennis clash as slight underdogs (6/5) against a Westmeath side which topped Division 2A with five wins from five and O’Connor knows the winners will face a massive task against the top teams in the country next spring.
“It would be a huge test for the lads to be up against those Division 1 teams,” he told GAA.ie
“You have 10 teams that are very, very strong so to be up competing would definitely be the way forward for Kerry hurling.
“I presume Westmeath feel the exact same about it so it should be a titanic struggle at the weekend with both teams really looking to have a cut at Division 1 next year.
“I suppose there is a huge amount to play for at the weekend.”
