Senior Team:  Our Senior Hurlers were knocked out of the SHC at the Quarter-Final stage by Clonkill on Sunday 30th Sept. on a scoreline Pollard 1-11 Clonkill 1-15.  Clonkill dominated the early stages and were 0-04, (0-03f’s)  ahead after 15mins, with Pollard free taker A.Devine registering our first score on 16mins. Then following a mixup in the Pollard defence after a failed short puckout attempt Clonkill pounced to stretch their lead to four points. J.McCarthy then scored a point following a crossfield 40m pass from A.Devine. Pollard then score 0-03 up to the  24th minute with points from play from D.O’Reilly and  A. Devine, with Devine scoring another free from some 50m. The sides were now level at 0-05 each.  Devine then scored another free either side of two Clonkill converted frees.  With Pollard now trailling by the narrowest of margins K.Brazil then struck for a Pollard goal on 30mins, following some great Pollard defending in the buildup.  Pollard were now two points ahead and with the last puck of the half  A.Devine converted a 45m free, to leave the halftime score, Pollard 1-07 Clonkill 0-07. In the second half, Pollard stretched their lead to four points following a converted free from A.Devine with 3mins gone. Pollard lost influential centreback D.Higgins to injury with only 6mins gone in the second half and Clonkill now starting to get on top scored 0-02 from play before Devine added another 0-01 from a placed ball.  Clonkill then hit 1-02 with the goal comming after a superb save from A.Dermody in the Pollard goals but Clonkill foward s were quicker to react slamming the ball to the Pollard net.  The score now Pollard 1-09 Clonkill 1-11.  J.Rabbitte then scored a point after a fine sollo run.  Clonkill then stretched their lead with two converted frees, before A.Devine pulled one back from a free with 4mins of normal time remaining.  This was to be Pollards final score with Clonkill scoring 0-02 (0-01fr) before the final whistle was sounded.
