Rounders Championship
Ballinagore travelled to Ballon in Co Carlow to take on Cúchulainn in the third round of the championship on Sunday 29th April. We were late arriving for the game and having received a reprimand from the referee we proceeded to ship a heavy defeat from the home side. After two innings we were fourteen scores behind, our only run coming from Michelle O'Sullivan. We stopped the rot temporarily in the third innings sharing eight runs evenly with Cúchulainn but the home side stretched their lead again in the fourth innings to put the match beyond doubt and it finished 27-7 in favour of Cúchulainn. Team: Shane Heraty (Catcher, 1 Run), Declan Claffey (Pitcher), Enda Claffey (Short Stop, 1 Run), Tally Flynn Capt. (1st Base), Aisling Heraty (2nd Base), Dympna Claffey (3rd Base, 1 Run), Michelle O'Sullivan (Left Outfield, 2 Runs), David Langan (Centre Outfield, 2 Runs), Colette Langan (Right Outfield).
McGrath Park in Bagenalstown was the venue for our fourth round encounter and we needed to win to have any chance of qualifying for the quarter final. It wasn't to be as Bagenalstown took control from the off and it was the third innings before we registered a score through the irrepressible David Langan, the former All Star doing it all on his own and scoring a home run. There was little else to cheer about as Bagenalstown won on a scoreline of 27 runs to 6 but we did find out where the best 99 ice cream was to be had in Bagenalstown - 'The Little Shop', Kilree Street. Team: Shane Heraty (Catcher), Declan Claffey (Pitcher), Martin Furey (Short Stop), Tally Flynn Capt.(1st Base, 2 Runs), Aisling Heraty (2nd Base), Colette Langan (3rd Base, 1 Run), Enda Claffey (Left Outfield), David Langan (Centre Outfield, 2 Runs), Trisha Lynam (Right Outfield). Sub: Kevin Glennon (1 Run).

European Finals
Club footballer, Enda Kenny, and his colleagues on the Irish Garda soccer team recently competed in the European championship finals in Prague where they qualified out of their group for the semi-final of the tournament. Unfortunately they lost this game 2-1 to Germany but they picked it up to beat The Netherlands 6-1 in the 3rd/4th place decider. Well done Enda!
