Under 16 League

Garrycastle 3-7 Milmore Gaels 2-7

Garrycastle under 16s secured their second win in a row with an excellent comeback victory over a strong Milmore Gaels side last Thursday evening.

Despite a fast start with 2 early scores from James Murphy, Garrycastle seemed switch off  for ten minutes and Milmore capitalised on this building up an 8 point half time lead. Right from the get go of the second half it was clear that Garrycastle had learned from their mistakes and were intent on turning around the deficit. With John Dylan O Shea winning every ball in the back line and Ryan Cornally offering a lot of energy in midfield this gave the forwards the platform to kick some excellent scores. Amongst these were well taken goals from Luke Clinton  and Tommy Stephens along with some fine points from Ben Kilkenny, Daniel McManus and Charlie O Connor.

The final ten minutes saw the home team throw everything at the Garrycastle rearguard but ably assisted by the ever reliable Eric Rogers in goals and a hard working backline Garrycastle stood firm and held on for a 3 point victory.

Overall  a great performance full of character and determination but the lads will know that they will need an improved first half in upcoming games.

A Dessie Dolan free was followed by a Lomans point before Alex Gardiner scored a penalty to reduce the lead to two points.
