Intermediate Championship
Crookedwood 2-19 Ringtown 2-6. A second win in six days propelled us to the top of the table, thus guaranteeing a semi-final spot in this year's championship. Credit must go to Clonkill GAA as their playing surface was in very good condition considering the torrential downpours that had fallen during the day. As luck would have it the weather calmed down and very little rain fell during the game and a moderate breeze swirled around the grounds. We led from start to finish in this game and had a seven-point lead at half time (1-11 to 1-4) after some good hurling, with Ian McGovern impressing with 1-3 from play in the 1st half. The only blight was the concession of a soft goal after a Ringtown 65' came back off the crossbar and a Ringtown attacker reacted quickest to stroke the ball over the line. However, the lads didn't let that deter them and came out determined in the second half to finish the job. Although we did not hurl as direct as we could've in the second half we hurled strongly and added 1-8 while restricting our opponents to 1-2. We now look forward to the semi-final, with our opponents being Fr.Daltons Team: A.O'Mara, J.Nally, D.Grifferty, D.Hyland, K.Orme, E.Nally, N.Kiernan, B.McLoughlin (0-1), S.McGovern (0-3), R.Crowley, B.O'Mara (0-7), H.Reilly (0-1), I.McGovern (2-3), N.Yourell (0-3), E.Murray. Subs used: R.Wallace (0-1) for R.Crowley, Andy Boyhan for N.Yourell, Ger Brennan for E.Murray, Ciaran McGovern for H.Reilly
