Waterford selector Dan Shanahan is pleased to see the side create plenty of goal chances at this time of the year.

Shanahan felt that they did not create enough goal chances last year and stressed to the Waterford News & Star that was one area that they were keen to work on.

The Decies lost out to Limerick in the Waterford Crystal Cup last weekend, but Shanahan feels there were many positives to take from the game.

"We are creating one or two goal chances that we weren't creating last year," said Shanahan. "Our young lads are going very well at the moment and they are training wicked hard.

"They will be training this week extremely hard compared to other years. It was a disappointing result, I know that, but in four weeks' time we hope to rectify that."
