O'Keeffe keen to make up for 'heart-breaking defeat'

October 01, 2014

Ballygunner defender Stephen O'Keeffe has admitted that the pain of last year's county SHC final defeat to Passage is driving them on this year.

They face old rivals Mount Sion in this year's county final which takes place at Walsh Park on Sunday afternoon and O'Keeffe was not hiding the fact that last year's agonising defeat to Passage is still rankles with them.

"It's only natural. It was heart-breaking to say the least. It's after lighting a fire under our bellies for this year," O'Keeffe told the Waterford News & Star.

"We won't be leaving any stone unturned against Mount Sion in the final."
