The redevelopment of Walsh Park has been given the all-clear after an appeal by a local residents' group was dismissed.

According to a report in the Irish Examiner, An Bord Pleanála has ruled that an objection by Belvedere Manor Residents' Association against the proposed revamp of the Waterford county grounds was invalid.

Waterford GAA was granted planning permission earlier this month to upgrade Walsh Park to a 16,000-capacity stadium at a cost of close to €7 million. The Deise had to play their games in this year's new-look Munster SHC at Semple Stadium and the Gaelic Grounds due to Walsh Park's restricted capacity.
