The sight of Waterford forward Patrick Curran going off in a club game with a hand injury is not what the county's supporters want to see.

There are just seven weeks to go before the start of the Munster SHC and Waterford certainly have a few problems to deal with in the coming weeks.

Kieran and Shane Bennett have opted off the panel, as has Maurice Shanahan, although it is hoped that the Lismore man will overturn his rash decision and return to the fold.

Austin Gleeson is hampered by a hamstring injury, although he did come on for his club Mount Sion's championship game last weekend, but it is feared that he may have set his recovery back by doing so.

Curran looks set to be sidelined for a number of weeks also as he sustained a hand injury in a club championship game last Thursday night.

In better news for the Déise, Darragh Fives has returned to full fitness having played with his club at the weekend.
