Harlesden Harps club notes

June 27, 2017

Upcoming Fixture:

Harlesden Harps first team will hope to get their first silverware of the season when they take on St Brendan's in the final of the Murphy Cup. The match will take place on Tuesday, 27th June at 7:15pm at Greenford, pitch one, London, UB6 0NZ. A big chance to give the season a boost, let's make every effort to put another trophy on the mantelpiece. As usual, make sure you check public transport is in use and for any likely traffic delays, etc and ensure everyone is at the venue nice and early for a proper preparation for the game.

The team also play Neasden Gaels in their next AIB division two league fixture on Saturday, 01st July at 3:00pm. Once again, the game will take place at Greenford, (pitch two this time), London, UB6 0NZ. A chance to hopefully make some progress up the league table and gain the confidence of a win.

The reserve team will next take to field on Thursday, 29th June at 7:15pm at Greenford, pitch two, London, UB6 0NZ against Kingdom Kerry Gaels. A chance for some to show their worth and push for a starting place in the first team and also for this team to get back to winning ways. A big turnout needed after a little bit of a struggle to gather players for recent games.

Previous Matches:

Harlesden Harps recently played old rivals St Josephs once again in the quarter-final of the ShIels Cup. The match was a close affair from the off with the Joe's being more efficient with their shooting in the first half to lead by four points at the interval. In the second it was our boys who upped the intensity and pace to kick on and get on top in the contest. There were some super scores along the way from the likes of John Rafferty, Padraig McGoldrick and Ryan Scullion. The team's strong second half performance helped them seal the victory on a scoreline of Harps 0-14 St Josephs 1-07. Onwards now to the semi-finals!

Training:

Training continues this week taking place Tuesday at 7:45pm in The Shamrock Club, 307A Horn Lane, Acton, W3 0BP (nearest tube station: North Acton on the Central Line). Any new players wishing to "play a bit a ball" are very welcome to come along to this well-run club. If needed we can offer good jobs, along with accommodation and a social life to our members. Transport to and from training and pick up from local stations can also be arranged.

As usual, check public transport is in use and for any likely traffic delays, etc and make sure everyone is at the venue nice and early for a proper preparation.
