Thomas McCurtains GAA Club Notes

May 22, 2017

Our Hurlers beat Granuaile in the Semi Final of the Ronan Cup on a fine Sunday afternoon in Greenford. They played some fantastic hurling throughout and went in at the break four points ahead (1-08 to 0-07). With the breeze in the second half McCurtains managed to pull ahead thanks to some fine play in the mid field. Granuaile battled hard but the deficit  proved too much to overcome.

THOMAS MCCURTAINS: B. Ryan; J. Donohue, E. Breen, R. Ellis; C. Doyle, S. Murphy, J. Searson; K. Dowling, D. Byrne; A. Clancy, J. Byrne, M. Russel; G. Long, R. Carson, S. O'Reagan. SUBS: T. Clarke for Carson, C. Smyth for O'Reagan.

Unfortunately our Camogs couldn't match the Hurlers in their own Semi Final. They took a while to get into the flow of the game and a slow and nervy start saw Fr. Murphys take control by half time. A more composed second half saw the East London ladies keep Murphys scoring to a point but it wasn't enough.

The U-12s played a blitz in Mitcham at the weekend winning three and losing two. It is good progress as they build up to the ABC's in Greenford in July.

Next Saturday the Ladies footballers will take part in the TCG 7-a-side tournament in Greenford.

Finally well done to the London Juniors who beat Hertfordshire in the first round of the British Championship on Saturday and best of luck to Mark McGirr and the rest of the London Seniors against Leitrim on Sunday.

Our Annual Golf Day is taking place on the 17th June in Ilford Golf Club. It is £50 per person or £200 for a team of four. Breakfast and dinner will be provided on the day. Contact Jim McDermott on 07813 355776 to register your interest.
