SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONS 2015
Our hurlers picked up where they left off in the semi-final and showed heart, pride and a steely determination to capture the 2015 London SHC on Sunday November 1st. From the moment the ball was thrown in they tore into their opponents, hassling, blocking and frustrating them at every turn. At the back we were tigerish and dogged, holding a talented St Gabriels forward line to just four points in the first half, while our own attackers kept up a relentless workrate that resulted in scores or forced a free. We set the tone early on, hunting in packs, and scored first through an Eoin Chawke free, rifled over from the right wing after Tadhg Healy had won possession in big collision. Seán Ryan came out from his goal a few minutes later to launch over a booming free from well within our own half to add to the tally. We were creating lots of chances through the pressure we were exerting and were rewarded with three first half goals - the first from Captain Martin Fitzpatrick, after receiving a crossfield pass on the edge of the square, the second after a goalmouth scramble, and the third, just before half time, from a long-range Eoin Chawke free. However our bubble was burst somewhat by the sight of Martin Fitz being carried from the field on the stroke of half-time after suffering a serious knee injury. Nevertheless we carried a nine-point lead into the second half and managed to hold on to this cushion for the rest of the game. St Gabriels kept fighting however, and were rewarded with a well-taken goal of their own midway through the half to reduce the gap to six. With a spark now in their attack they pressed hard for another but our defence stood firm. Mixing tenacity with discipline we held onto our two goal lead, defending several dangerous high balls lofted into our square. Finally however, the long whistle sounded to the joy of our entire team and supporters.

ALL IRELAND INTERMEDIATE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINAL
Our London SHC final win over St Gabriels now takes us into the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Championships, where we will face Abbeyknockmoy of Galway. Our opponents have already come through a tough Galway and Connacht championship and will represent the biggest challenge we have yet to face this year. Kevin McMullan, Mark Traynor and Denis Costello have been preparing the lads well in recent weeks and making sure that we are in the best possible shape for this challenge. We will need all of our supporters to rally again this coming weekend as we hope to make it another day to remember in Ruislip! Throw-in time is 13:30, Saturday November 21st.

CONDOLENCES
The club extends its sympathies to the family of former Robert Emmetts club-man Mattie Maher, who passed away recently at his home. Mattie was chairman of the club for six years, having been elected in 1972, and was a long-time servant of Robert Emmetts as a player and mentor.
