Harlesden Harps club notes

May 21, 2018

Previous Matches:

Harlesden Harps played the semi-final of the Murphy Cup recently against St. Brendan's. Unfortunately, it proved to be a flat performance from the team as they never got up to the pace of the game, eventually being defeated by double scores. In fairness the opposition were much more clinical and a reminder of the work that still needs to be done to make it a successful year.

And so, onto the weekend where a chance of redemption was quickly offered to the Harps as they took on Thomas McCurtains in the quarter final of the Shiels Cup. Thankfully this was a much-improved performance from the boys and they quickly established a lead, helped by a nice penalty finish from Paudric McGoldrick to lead by 5 points at the break. More of the same in the second half with strong performances from Anthony Donnelan and a nice finish from Owen Bonner saw us to victory on a final scoreline of Harps 2-13 Thomas McCurtains 0-08.

Training:

Training continues this week taking place Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30pm in The Shamrock Club, 307A Horn Lane, Acton, W3 0BP (nearest tube station: North Acton on the Central Line). Any new players wishing to "play a bit a ball" are very welcome to come along to this well-run club. If needed we can offer good jobs, along with accommodation and a social life to our members. Transport to and from training and pick up from local stations can also be arranged.

As usual, check public transport is in use and for any likely traffic delays, etc and make sure everyone is at the venue nice and early for a proper preparation.

Martin O Sullivan:
