St Anthonys GAA Reading club notes

Mick Linehan RIP

It's with immense sadness that we have to relay the news of the passing of one of our Life Presidents and heartbeat of the club Mick Linehan. Originally from Cork, and an underage player with Kilmurry GAA, Mick moved to the UK in the 1960s and ever since his arrival in Reading, Mick has played a central role in the club : He served on the committee and was well respected and liked by those he encountered in other clubs down the years and at County Board meetings where he represented St Anthony's for many years - Many people in London GAA would identify him as "Mr St Anthony's". Mick was often the person ensuring there were 15 lads around to take the field on match days, with his wife Ann ensuring they were smartly kitted out. Many of our long standing club members would testify to the fact that without Mick there would not be a club in Reading today. Those of us who have had the pleasure of turning out for the club down the years and have got so much out of being involved with the club owe him a debt of gratitude for that. Whilst our club are so much poorer for his passing, we are grateful for the fact that we had somebody like him involved for so long.

We send our condolences to Ann and his entire family.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
