Ulster Championship 2013

(Oldest Posts First)

Tyrone have been drawn out to play All Ireland Champions Donegal in the quarter finals of the 2013 Ulster Championship. If we get through we meet the winners of Derry V Down. Just the game we need I feel to get things going again. Last year we gained promotion to division 1 in the league which was our first target. In last years championship we were hit with alot of key injuries and retirements so it was always going to be tough. This year our first aim will be to stay in division 1. If you look at last year 7 of the 8 quarter finalists all played division 1 league football so a good run in the league should stand to us. Come championship if we can have a full panel to choose from I think we could get a good run through Ulster and on to the All Ireland Quarter Finals. Mickey has took the first step by bringing in Gavin Devlin into his backroom team so here's hoping for an exciting year of football in 2013. Mickey will not want to get beat by Donegal for a third year in a row and this will be the perfect time to get them, first game out defending their title. Tír Eoghain Abú

What a draw for both teams. Both of us cannot get a handy run at all, it's turning into a fantastic rivalry, the champions V the three times winners in the last decade. As stating on our own forum, this is probably the real Ulster final because the other sides are not up to much and you guys are the only team that can probably beat us. Roll on next May

The Right Stuff- its amazing how quickly some people can become arrogant. If Donegal dont burn out this year they definately wont last another 2.

they wont physically burn out anyway. they don't play their system in the league and get a big break while other teams are flat out training. Jim has it timed to perfection.

TheRightStuff - that's a wee bit disrespectful to all the other sides in Ulster. If you think back to this time two years ago, all other teams in Ulster would have been glad to get Donegal but we made serious improvements over a short period of time and ended up winning Ulster. Who's to say that another team in Ulster won't make serious improvements over the winter/spring and surprise everyone.

Tis Dub1 could be a long year. Best time to get them but having said that the fact it is Tyrone will certainly meaan Donegal won't sleepwalk into the game.
Looks like a tidy bit of rehab for the dubs though.

you'd nearly expect kildare to beat dublin. they so desperately want to win leinster and dublin couldn't give a toss about it. only thing is dublin have a new manager and he will really want an early piece of silverware under his belt.

plus it's geezers 5th year so it's make or break for him now.

Tough draw but forty years after the battle of Ballybofey in which Tyrone beat the Ulster title holders 0-12 to 1-7 and went on to win Ulster perhaps its an omen. I dont think Tyrone have played a championship game there since.
