Strabane Sigersons club notes

September 19, 2017

Adult Football;

On Friday night (22nd September), the club will host the Danny Rouse Memorial tournament, usually the tournament is held for minors however this year it will be for the senior men. The tournament will begin at 7pm sharp with tea and refreshments provided in the club afterwards. All help and support for the tournament would be much appreciated.

400 Club Draw;

The next 400 club draw will take place on Friday 29th September, we would ask everyone to contact your ticket seller to ensure that you are paid up to date to ensure your entry in each draw.

Youth Football;

Congratulations to Strabane Sigersons under 16 boys who won the annual David Devine Memorial Tournament on Saturday in Páirc Mhíc Sioghair. David was just 15 years old when he sadly passed away on a Christmas Eve, he was a youth player with Strabane Sigersons at the time of his death and ironically, he would have been 31 years old on Saturday the day of the tournament. The tournament has been held annually since David's death and the Devine family has always given great help and support.

Thanks to everyone who helped on Saturday on what was a very bad day, thanks to Dean Molloy and Liam Sweeney who refereed the games and to everyone who umpired and done linesmen throughout the day. Also, a special thanks to everyone who helped with tea and refreshments. Thanks also to Derry City and Strabane District Council who sponsored the trophies today through their Support for Sport programme.

The Under 16 Ladies earned a share of the spoils in an exciting game against neighbours Mna na Deirge at Marius McHugh Park on Friday evening. Despite being five points behind at half-time the Sigersons girls put in a hardworking second period to close the gap and finish the game all square 3-5 to 3-5. This was a tremendous all-round team performance but Ara Dunne, Ellie Jay McMenamin, Liana McIntyre & Eve McCrea impressed for Sigersons.

These same teams will meet again in the Championship on October 1st so another exciting contest is in store. The under 16s continue their League campaign with a trip to Sperrin Og on Tuesday evening.

Sigersons Juvenile boys will face Badoney in the 1st round of the Grade 2 Championship on Saturday at 11.30am. All Support for the lads is much appreciated.
