Teams from Omagh, Carrickmore, Errigal Ciarán and Castlederg joined the hosts Strabane at Páirc Mhic Sioghair for the Sean Duffy Memorial Under 12 girl's tournament on Saturday week past.

The five teams battled it out in the group stages with near neighbours and big rivals Carrickmore and Errigal advancing to the final to compete for the Sean Duffy Memorial Shield. The talented girls from Carrickmore pipped their close counterparts Errigal Ciarán to victory to claim the title.

Sean's brother Eamon and his daughter Niamh were in attendance to present the medals to the winning team and also to the All Star team of the Tournament that included Strabane players Ellie Friel, Zara McCauley, Rebecca McConnell and Liana McIntyre.

The tournament concludes the season for the Sigersons Under 12 Girls. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the running of the blitz, thanks to the referees Eugene and Aran and to the coaches, cheers to all the parents for providing refreshments for the travelling teams and to anyone else who assisted with this group during the year.

A special word of thanks is also extended to Mickey-Joe Friel and Audra Graham for mentoring the girls all year and to their helpers Caoimhe & Aimee Friel and Aoife & Niambh Foley.
