Competition drives on Sludden

Tyrone forward Niall Sludden believes the competition for places in the starting XV has every player pushing hard for a jersey.

Sludden has been in a rich vein of form this year and he has put this down to their such competition for a starting place.

Last Sunday, a second-string Tyrone side faced the Dublin equivalent in a Super 8’s dead rubber, but many of the players will have given their manager Mickey Harte some food for thought.

“Personally speaking, I feel a lot better, but you’re always up against it with the level of competition within the squad. But I’m in form at the right time and hopefully come Sunday all of us will be ready to go,” Sludden told the Ulster Herald.

“It’s going to be a massive task against Kerry in Croke Park. You really want to be in an All-Ireland semi-final and this Kerry team has a lot of youth and experience.”
