Midleton 1-18

Having gone 19 years without a Cork SHC title, Imokilly have now won two in the space of 12 months thanks to a 10-point victory over Midleton at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Captain and county star Seamus Harnedy helped himslf to 1-6 from play, while Paudie O'Sullivan bagged 2-1 as the East Cork divisional side triumphed in impressive fashion. When Shane Hegarty raised their fourth goal in the 43rd minute, it was all over bar the shouting.

Midleton were always chasing the game after former county player O'Sullivan collected a long ball from Mark O'Keeffe and fired to the net after only two minutes. Harnedy scored Imokilly's second goal in the 20th minute after Midleton had closed the gap to two points. Patrick White netted for the losers in the 28th minute, but Imokilly still took a 2-11 to 1-9 lead into the break.

With Conor Lehane, Cormac Walsh and Luke O'Farrell hitting points, Midleton had the deficit back to two points with 20 minutes to go, but their hopes were extinguished in the space of three minutes when O'Sullivan's second major was followed by another from Hegarty. Trailing by 1-13 to 4-13, there was no way back for Midleton at that stage.
