Padraig Pearses 2-10

Roscommon Gaels 1-10

Appearing in their eighth county final, Padraig Pearses finally got their hands on the Fahey Cup after withstanding a late Roscommon Gaels rally at Dr Hyde Park.

First half goals from Conor Payne and Hubert Darcy laid the foundations for a famous victory for the south Roscommon club who are managed by former Westmeath and Offaly boss Pat Flanagan. A late Richard Hughes major for the Gaels threatened to spoil the party, but Pearses weren't to be denied an historic first title.

A disappointing day for the town side by compounded by the dismissals of Bryan O'Gara and Cian Connolly.

Connolly and Tim Lambe gave the Gaels an early lead before Conor Daly and Emmet Kelly levelled. The Woodmount men never looked back after Payne palmed home a 14th minute goal. Darcy raised their second green flag nine minutes later, while points from Paul Carey, Payne and Daly left them perched on a 2-7 to 0-6 lead at the break.

Despite only managing three further points per Lorcan Daly, Emmet Kelly and Darcy (free) in the second half, Pearses held off the Gaels, for whom Connolly top-scored with 0-5.
