Kevin 'Gus' Lenehan RIP.

A link to the 1954 All-Ireland winning Meath has been broken with the passing of Kevin ‘Gus’ Lenehan.

Kevin held the distinction of being the first Duleek player to collect a Celtic Cross souvenir and the Duleek/Bellewstown club has penned the following tribute to him:

“Kevin had the honour of being the first Duleek player to bring an All-Ireland SFC medal to the club. He played at right half back on the Meath team that defeated Kerry in the All-Ireland Final in 1954.

“He also won an All-Ireland Junior Medal in 1952 alongside his fellow club mates, Declan Brennan and John Sampson.

“He was on the losing Meath sides against Dublin in the 1955 Leinster decider and in the 1956 National League final against Cork.

“In 1955 Kevin was captain of the Duleek team which defeated Slane in the IFC Final – he was the last surviving member of the 6 Lenehans, who played on this team.
