Assistant manager Jim McCorry was refusing to get carried away with Armagh's superb All-Ireland SFC Qualifier victory over Monaghan.

Rising star Rian O'Neill bagged 2-1 as the Orchard County powered to a 2-17 to 1-12 victory over last year's All-Ireland SFC semi-finalists in Clones. But McCorry insisted that further improvement would be required for next Saturday's trip to Castlebar to face Mayo.

"It was very good, we were good in other games, but only in patches, whereas this one we were good probably throughout the whole lot of it," Kieran McGeeney's right-hand man told the Belfast Telegraph.

"It was heartening because we see that in training every day and the players know themselves that we let ourselves down in a couple of games this year.

"It was heartening that they have played well, but really it's only in the qualifiers. It is important to put it into perspective, it is great the way we played and it is great to beat Monaghan away from home, but there is a lot more work to be done before the next round."

"The players have known that that is the type of performance that they have in them."
