Laois manager John Sugrue is adamant that they won't adopt a defensive approach for Sunday's Leinster SFC final against Dublin.

Many would suggest that Sugrue is committing football suicide by putting men forward against such a formidable force as Dublin who are seeking their eighth consecutive Leinster SFC title.

In the semi-final, Longford came out and played against the Dubs and although they earned some praise for doing so, the Midlanders ended up losing by 19 points.

Still, Sugrue seems to be sticking by his guns and he told the Leinster Express that they want to be 'competitive' in the game.

"We're going to go after this one and try and set ourselves up to be competitive in the game, and to be competitive in the game you have to have an intention of winning it and not just try to stay in it," said Sugrue.

"Dublin are going to be a different proposition, there's no hiding from that. But we're building and we're measuring ourselves against opposition and we're going to go after this one."
