Tipp v Killkenny called off

(Oldest Posts First)

it was a pity but i feel the right decision was made.players could have got injured out there so it was worth calling it off.however i felt kelly could have called it off earlier. thoughts?

Had to be called off really but should have been done well before 7.30, I know people who went who won't be able to go tuesday meaning they'll be down 15 euro and not seen any match. That's just wrong. Also the game on tuesday will be free hopefully mean a big crowd.

Cheap shot jail house, Normally snow will delay your progress especially with a long trip. took me 1 hour and 30 to get to the match when it normally took 45 mins also had the find alternate routes as the gardai closed a few roads due to crashes...

Here's a few instructions for what you should do next.
1. Find your box.
2. Open lid.
3. Get in
4. Close lid.

(in short BACK IN YOUR BOX)

It couldnt really have been called off for certain at any earlier stage, i was in thurles and the snow didnt star to really fall till about quater past 8. They waited to see would it ease off any bit and when it didnt they had to call it off! I wouldnt go blaming the ref on this one, it was just one of those things that happens!!

I agree it was noones real fault as the snow didnt start till late but still i agree again the gaa are after making 15euro for people not even to see a match and this money should have been refunded at the gate going out if possible at all and people should have been givin the oppertunity to get the money returned

The money should of been returned but i agree that the ref was not in the wrong and we would have been more annoyed to lose a dirty poor match than go out and play it when you can have a good solid game of hurling

big cock up by the gaa tonight it should have been played no snow had lodged into the pitch and both teams went training in morris park afterwards so no excuses.i travelled an hour to get to the match and to learn that it was called off really annoyed me.getting fed up at this stage

heard it was only called off due to a bad attendance... any truth to this?

love4gaa (Tipperary) - Posts: 4 - 24/02/2010 17:10:39    572125

I doubt it as it was free didn't make a difference what the attendance was going to be. Plus it was called off at 7.25 35 mins before the match 3,500 so in there at that stage most of the crowd would have been only commin in. If i didn't turn back my E.T.A would have been around 8 and there was a fair bit of traffic at 7.30
