Double win great boost for Tipp, says secretary

Tipperary County Secretary Tim Floyd has praised both the county senior and intermediate hurling sides for their efforts at the weekend, hailing last Sunday as a "great day for the county". Both sides shocked Cork in their respective grades to advance to provincial finals, and Floyd believes the more finals the Premier County reach this year the better. "It was great day for the county. We faced a huge task going to Cork, but to come away with a double victory was a great achievement. We now have a national league trophy, our senior and intermediate hurling teams, and minor football team in Munster finals, and, hopefully, we will have more teams reaching finals before long," said Floyd in the Tipperary Star earlier this week. The Tipp seniors will wait until July 14 before they contest their Munster decider with either Clare or Limerick, while the county's intermediate hurlers have more at stake in their final as the winners will advance straight to the All-Ireland decider because no Ulster IHC took place this year. The Leinster Champions are set to take on the Connacht Champions in the All-Ireland IHC semi-final, while the Munster Champions have a clear path to the final as the northern province failed to hold a championship this year.
