Clare and Waterford each shot four goals in their Munster MHC Round 4 victories over Tipperary and Limerick respectively last night.
Liam Murphy grabbed a hat-trick as All-Ireland champions Clare edged closer to a return to the Munster final with a 4-11 to 0-19 win over Tipp at FBD Semple Stadium. Both teams came into the tie unbeaten, but the Banner had their noses in front, 3-4 to 0-9, at the interval thanks to three goals between the eighth and 17th minutes from Conor Ralph and Murphy (two).
Five unaswered frees from Eoghan Doughan drew Tipp level, 0-15 to 3-7, after 45 minutes, but the visitors hit back with Murphy's third major to maintain their winning run.
At the TUS Gaelic Grounds, Waterford overcame Limerick by 4-12 to 1-14 to secure their place in the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-finals.
First half goals from Shane Power and Jack Power helped the Deise to a 2-5 to 0-6 half-time lead. Shane Power and his twin Conor raised further green flags in the second half either side of a Malachy McKenna strike for the home side whose season ended on a disappointing note,
