Borris-Ileigh manager Johnny Kelly has hailed the impact of the leaders on the team.

The Tipperary champions dug deep to grind out a narrow win over Waterford’s Ballygunner in the Munster club SHC final last weekend.

Kelly credentials as a coach and manager have never been questioned, but they have been elevated to a new level following this win.

However, the Galway native was keen to heap the praise on his players and in particular the leaders on the team when speaking to the Tipperary Star.

“You have great leaders in that dressingroom,” stressed Kelly. “Dan (McCormack) spoke brilliantly well at half time just like Brendan (Maher) and Paddy (Stapleton); these are great guys.

“People look at me and say it is Johnny Kelly this and Johnny Kelly that, but when you have men like that in the dressingroom – good Tipperary hurlers and good men with great heart – the credit belongs there.”
