The Laois hurlers have been the story of the summer.
Under Kilkenny legend Eddie Brennan, they've gone from Joe McDonagh Cup relegation candidates to All-Ireland SHC quarter-finalists in the space of 12 months. Their brilliant preliminary quarter-final victory over Dublin seven days ago was one of the biggest championship shocks in years, but today the journey ended with a gallant defeat to Tipperary in Croke Park.
Lap of honours are usually reserved for the winning team, but Laois decided to do one after the final whistle, and were duly saluted by both sets of supporters as well as the Tipperary players.
