Drumcliffe Rosses Point GAA Club Notes

May 05, 2015

The seniors were beaten 2-14 to 0-8 by Tourlestrane last Sunday in the league. We remain on six points after six rounds of matches. St Mary's are the visitors to Oxfield this weekend.

It's a big weekend for the Sligo Ladies team. We wish club members Orla McGowan and Rachel Monaghan, who are are part of the side, every success against Waterford in the Tesco Homegrown Div 3 NFL final on Saturday in Parnell Park in Dublin. Throw-in is 12:15. The match will be televised live on TG4.

Our U16 boys were defeated by a strong Calry/St Josephs' team in Hazelwood last Monday evening in difficult weather conditions.  The team is progressing well with each game and it's encouraging to see a number of players returning to play with the club at this level.  The team have qualified for the League Shield semi-final and will play Easkey in Easkey on Monday 11 May at 7pm.  Training this week on Tuesday & Thursday evening from 7 to 8pm in Oxfield. All players are asked to attend. Any players who have yet to register are asked to do so by the end of the week.

Congratulations to U16 players, Joseph Keyes, Tom Armstrong and Sean Casey who represented Summerhill College and finished third in the All-Ireland Schools final last week.

We recently presented a donation from the club's successful Family Hot Pot fundraiser to representatives of the club's charity partner for the event - the MS North West Therapy Centre. The presentation was made in Oxfield during the GAA nursery coaching session. We're delighted to have been able to support a local resource which provides such an important service to people with Multiple Sclerosis, related neurological conditions and their families.

There was no jackpot winner of the club's latest lotto draw. The five recipients of €50 were: 1. Flanagan/Ford, 2. Michael Reynolds, 3. Oisín & Michelle Gillen, 4. Claire Campbell, 5. Enda Davitt.

Tickets are now on sale for the club's new Super Lotto Draw for 2015. The revised format will have 11 monthly draws, starting in June. So, there'll be more chances to win. The jackpot starts at €4,650. The new lotto tickets cost €50 for the year (which includes entry into September's All-Ireland football final ticket draw) and are available from Club Treasurer Gerard Carroll or any member of the DRP finance committee. This draw is a key fundraiser for the club this year. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

A table Quiz to raise funds for the minor boys team will be held on Friday, May 13th in Austie's Restaurant, Rosses Point, at 9:30pm. The entry fee is €20 for a team of four. The quiz starts at 9:30pm.
