Niall Carew says "a little bit more desire" got Sligo over the line against Wexford.

Having accounted for Louth in devastating fashion the previous weekend, the Yeats County scored a satisfactory 2-10 to 1-8 victory over the Model County in Markievicz Park last Sunday.

"We showed a little bit more desire and that's what got us over the line," the winning manager notes in The Sligo Champion. "Definitely in the second half, when they had the breeze with them and the extra man, but our lads just worked that bit harder...

"Wexford are a running team. They run the ball quite a bit but in fairness our lads just worked harder.

"It's two more points. We cannot get carried away. We're going in the right direction. We're playing away Tipperary in two weeks. We'll head down to that and hopefully it's more preparation for that."
