Last year's All-Ireland finalists Roscommon issued a statement of intent when dishing out a 24 point drubbing to Sligo in the Connacht U21 FC at Kiltoom tonight.

Senior stars Enda Smith (3-1) and Diarmuid Murtagh (2-5) ran amok for the primrose and blues while Paul Kenny (penalty) also raised a green flag for the winners.

Smith bagged a hat-trick to help establish a comfortable 5-9 to 0-4 lead at the end of the opening 30 minutes.

Roscommon showed no mercy to the Yeats County in the second half and Murtagh pounced for his second goal five minutes after the restart.

Smith, Murtagh & Co await the winners of Saturday's semi-final between Galway and Mayo in the decider.
