Sligo forward Adrian Marren has targeted promotion from Division Three.

Ahead of their opening NFL Division Three clash away to Limerick, Marren told the Sligo Champion that promotion to Division Two has to be one of their goals this year.

The experienced forward revealed that preparations for the league have been going really well under new manager Niall Carew.

"Things are going good. Niall has tried out a few players in the last three games and lads have certainly put their name forward for the opening league match," said Marren.

"We are moving well as a unit and as a team and for the league, Limerick will be tough, but if we can get over that and then Fermanagh before the break, definitely promotion has to be the number one goal for all of us. Hopefully, we can make it this season. That's the aim."
