Former star forward and U21 manager Paul Taylor has been recommended for the vacant Sligo football manager's post.

The Eastern Harps clubman's name will be put forward for ratification at a county board meeting next Monday. He will replace Tyrone native Cathal Corey, who stepped down after just one season in charge last month.

Taylor, who played for the Yeats County for 14 seasons and won six SFC medals with Eastern Harps, will have Joe Keane, who won an All-Ireland club SFC medal with Crossmolina in 2001, as his coach, while his selectors will be appointed in the coming weeks.
