Shannon Gaels club notes

Last week our minor boards summer camp took place with 120 children taking part in a fun filled week. The club would like to thank Tracey Duignan for her efforts in organizing this event every year.  A huge thank you to all the coaches, and also thank you to all the parents who provided lifts to swimming pool on Friday.  An U10 blitz took place in Croghan on Saturday and thank you to all who helped out.  Kilmore/Shannon Gaels U14 team were defeated by St. Aidans on Thursday last in the third round of the championship.  Their next game is scheduled for Thursday the 23rd v St. Michaels in Ardcarne Park.  The Dermot Earley Youth leadership programme is taking place again this year.  This is run by the GAA, Foroige and NUIG Galway and is open to young GAA members 15 - 18 years old male and female. It aims to give young people the skills and confidence needed to be leaders in the community.  If you are interested please email Stacey Cannon [email protected] or you can contact her on 01 8192387.  Closing date for application is 19th July.

The senior club hosted Seamus O'Rourkes play on Saturday night last in The Bush Hotel.  This was a great night and many thanks to Seamus O'Rourke for a great nights entertainment.  Thanks to the Bush Hotel for providing the venue, to everyone who supported the event and to all who helped out. Thanks to Ray Gannon, Padraig Glancy, Jim Glancy and Cryans Hotel for providing spot prizes on the night.

The lotto draw took place in Glancys on Saturday last, numbers drawn 11,22,23 & 28.  No winner of Jackpot.  20 euor winners were Paddy Cummins Ardkeena, Maureen Corrigan Lisdaly, Liz Gilhooly Summerhill, Dessie Clarke Cortober, James Egan Cashel.  Next draw in Dickies on Saturday 25th July. Jackpot 3,400.

Congratulations to the Intermediate team who secured their second win of the championship with a 2-19 to 1-7 win over Castlerea on Saturday evening. The team was as follows: Aisling Egan, Linda Duignan, Clodagh Corrigan, Christina Beirne, Christine Glancy, Ceara Noone, Niamh O Beirne, Mairead O Dowd, Sile O Dowd, Aideen Filan, Tess Murtagh, Orla Glancy, Sorcha Bruen, Aishling McDermott, Aine O Dowd, Katie Daly, Shauna Burke, Sarah Surlis, Catherine Flynn, Martina Hanly, Leone Carney, Ruth O Hart, Caoimhe O Dowd, Noelle Mc Guinness. They play Boyle in the next round on  25th July.

Best of luck to all club members involved with county teams in the coming week. Roscommon U16s play Cavan in their All Ireland semi final on Wednesday at 7pm in Ballinamore. The Minor team play Armagh on Saturday in the All Ireland Semi Final in Mollahan, Co. Cavan at 2pm. The Intermediate Roscommon Ladies are also in action on Saturday, against Tipperary. Time and venue to be confirmed.
