St. Brigid's quest for a six-in-a-row of Roscommon SFC titles began at Hyde Park this evening with a 3-12 to 1-11 victory over south county rivals Padraig Pearses.

All eyes were on former St. Brigid's and Roscommon goalkeeper Shane Curran who, in his new role as Pearses manager, was attempting to plot the downfall of the club he famously helped to All-Ireland club glory in 2013. But Brigid's emerged as comfortable winners thanks to goals from Gearoid Cunniffe, Garvan Dolan and an o.g.

Sean Fahy's late goal was a mere consolation score for the Woodmount-based outfit.

In the opening game at the Hyde, traditional giants Clann na nGael accounted for St. Ronan's on a 1-14 to 1-4 scoreline.
