Offaly Senior Football Championship

Rhode Senior Footballers had an overwhelming victory over Clara on Saturday evening last in O'Connor Park Tullamore with the full-time score reading 6-16 to 17pts.

Rhode will now play Gracefield in the Semi final on the 25th of September.

Junior B Championship

Rhode Junior Footballers gained another 2pts in the championship when they bet Lusmagh on Sunday morning last in Lusmagh on a score-line of 2-11 to 1-13.

Rhode Juniors now play Gracefield in Rhode on Saturday evening the 3rd of September at 5:30pm. 

U,8:Croke Park Trip

Rhode U,8s Travelled to Croke Park on Tuesday afternoon last to take part in a Country wide blitz with Rhode teams playing Round Towers of Kildare and Rathoath of Meath.  Both Rhode teams gave excellent performances.  They had a great day and as I said on the bus  they did themselves parents, management and Club proud with both their behaviour and match performance. A big thank you to the management team present today Stephen Glennon, Hugh Crombie and Brendan Glennon. Also the parents and Grandparents who attended today . A special mention to Mary Dunne Priorylawns who had two Grandchildren playing today Cillian Dunne for Rhode and Ella stokes playing hurling for CRC Gaels A very proud Granny No doubt !.  Thanks you all for helping out especially to Mick Fleming who helped the management out. Well Done all.

Lotto

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on the 22nd of August for a Jackpot of €15,000.  The numbers drawn were 4 7 13 15.  The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Killeen for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation.  The following matched three numbers and received €40 each

The Rhode GAA Lotto is the main source of income the club has and now you can play online though our website.  The good news is when you play the lotto online you are entitled to free draws, for example pay for seven draws receive the eighth one free, pay for fourteen draws receive two free and so on.  In other words, the more you play the more free draws you are entitled to!!

Community Games:

Massive congratulations to all the Rhode kids representing Rhode and Offaly at the All Ireland Community Games finals. Especially to Grace Malone who won Gold in the All Ireland U,8 80m, Drew Fleming coming 4th in his final, Katelyn Farrelly who came third in the U,14 long jump final and Eoin Smith who was part of the U,12 Offaly Cross Country team who came 5th.

Sympathy

Deepest sympathy to the family of Sheila Lloyd Greenwood Edenderry whose funeral took place last Thursday in Edenderry Church. Sheila is a sister of Three Local Rhode Ladies Gerty Scally, Breda Scally and Mairead Gunning.

Sympathies also to local women Kathleen Swaine on the Passing of her Mother Margaret Mooney Carrick Edenderry also buried  Thursday last.

Sympathy to Family and friends of well known Man Sean Meleady Clonad Clonbulloge  who was buried last week. Sean was a great supporter of Rhode down through the years. 

May Sheila, Margaret and Sean Rest in Peace.
