U16 hurling

Tullmaore's Team 2  travelled to Ballyskenagh/Killavilla on Sat evening last 25th for their round 2 fixture. After the disappointment of the loss in round 1 this was a must win game. With Tullamore fielding almost full strength they never look like letting this game end without the win. From the first whistle the sliotar was won by Samuel Wright who pointed after 15 secords. Cormac Izuchukwu then showed his dominance at certer forward with 1:1 which helped settle the whole team. Matthew Keegan then pointed after some great work before Ballyskenagh/Killavilla registered their first point from a free. Cody Walsh then displayed great follow up plan when he latched onto a blocked shot to fire the ball to the net. Both teams exchanged points with Ciaran Digan replying to the home sides 2nd point. Tullamore continued to dominate all through the 2nd half and held the home side scoreless with great covering and defensive play from Ciaran Waters, John Mahon, Brendan Leavy and Cian Martin which left Adam Roche with little to do in goals. The midfielders of S Wright and Dean Carroll kept a continuous link between defence and attack with the help of wing back Conor Lambe's runs up to the forward line. All forwards looked sharp as Dean Molloy put his name on the score sheet with 1:1 early in the secord half. When introduced Shane Enright and Cian McDermott showed great energy in chasing and blocking with Brian Todd and Tristan Walsh wasting no time in registering scores with minutes of their introduction. A great team performance and win on a score line of 5-16 to 2pts and a win to reinstate Tullamore GAA's intention of fielding competitive championship teams.
