Many of our members would not be aware of the costs of Insurance and Affiliations which is over €1000 per team. We have 13 teams in the clubs. At the moment, membership charges are still very low in comparison to our neighbouring clubs which are roughly around € 100 euro per child player and up to € 150 for an adult player. This year we have changed our membership fee slightly. We are asking that maybe you would consider taking part in one of the options at the end of this letter.  As a club going forward we need to bring our facilities up to date.  We need new dressing rooms to accommodate all our teams and our Ladies teams. This is in our 4 year plan for the club. In year 1, We have already put by € 28,850 to go towards our new Dressing Rooms. Please be aware we need every ones support in bringing our club up to date with other clubs around us. This is a large project and will be a benefit to Rhode GAA and, also the Community. Our success on the field is not reflected in our grounds. We need to work together to achieve our goals. Also, our Underage teams are going well and they deserve the opportunity to have great facilities to progress in their development. This cannot be achieved without the support of our Community.

Our rates for 2020 are as follows:

FAMILY MEMBERSHIP € 80 (2 adults and children in fulltime education)

SINGLE ADULT MEMBERSHIP € 40

Cross-County U13 Leinster League

Rhode U13's boys team welcomed St. Peters of Dunboyne, Co Meath, to Fr. Dowling Park in Round 2 of the Leinster Cross County campaign on a very windy Saturday afternoon. With the wind blowing straight down the length of the field, it was a game of two halves for both teams. Winning the toss, Rhode opted to play with the wind in the first half and took full advantage of it, making the ball do all of the work. This paid off and Rhode went in at half time leading by 4-5 to 3-1. In the second half, Rhode changed their style of play and moved to more possession football and put in a serious 30 mins of accurate passing and worked the ball up the field. Dunboyne switched to the more direct long ball play as expected and kept Rhode's defence under pressure for the entire half. Credit has to be given to the full team as they held their lead through to the end. Rhode won on a final scoreline of 6-5 to 4-6.

Cycle 4 Dreams

On the 21st April 2020, former All Ireland winner, Offaly and Rhode footballer Stephen Darby and former Offaly and current Rhode footballer Paraic Sullivan, take on a five day continuous cycle in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation and Rhode GAA club.

With proceeds from the event being split 50/50, this event will bring joy and happiness to those who need it most and also help provide vital funds to ensure the growth and progression of our wonderful club.

The continuous cycle will start on Fahy hill and will mean one of the two men will be on the bike at all times for the 5 days. They will take off in 6 hour sessions on a selected route and tag the other back in once the 6 hours is up. They will work throughout the night and on their final 6 hours they will arrive back in the village together.

In the coming days a gofundme page will be set up for people to donate and there will also be a website going live to spread awareness of the event and to showcase where those vital funds will be going.

Thanks to all for supporting.
