MINOR A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna Minor Footballers no 1 Team made it 2 wins out of 2 in the A Championship to remain on course to top the group as they won comfortably against Rhode Óg in Rd 2 last Wednesday evening in Rhode on a scoreline of 3-15 to 0-04. Na Fianna set out their stall right from the off opening the scoring with the first goal on 2 mins from Jacob Beatty with a blistering run along the right side end line. By half time Na Fianna were in control leading 1-11 to 0-01. In the second half 2 more Na Fianna goals excellantly finished by Morgan Tynan and Jacob Beatty sealed the win for the Killeigh parish side.

MINOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

It was another defeat for Na Fianna Minor Football no 2 team but a much improved performance as they lost out to St Rynaghs only team in Rd 3 of the Minor B Championship last Thursday evening in Cloghan on scoreline of 10-12 to 4-06. The damage was done in the first half as St Rynaghs put 5-06 on the board to Na Fianna’s 1-02 with the Na Fianna goal scored by Oisin Henchy. The highlight of the game for Na Fianna came 2 mins into the second half as Brian Malone’s free from just inside the 45m line went all the way into the top right corner of the net. St Rynaghs matched their first half tally with another 5-06 in the second half with Na Fianna scoring a further 2-04, the goals scored by Oisin Henchy a chip from just outside the square on 13 mins along with a goal mouth scramble finished by Ronan Daly on 28 mins.

U15 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna U15 Footballers lost out to a very strong Ferbane/Belmont side in the penultimate round of the Championship last Friday evening in Ferbane on a scoreline of 9-09 to 0-06 which makes it 2 wins and 3 defeats now so far in the group for Na Fianna. In this game Na Fianna battled bravely but just could not match this F/B side who are strong both in terms of skill level and playing numbers.

NA FIANNA: Killian McHugh, Ronan Brophill, Eamon Bolger, Peter McKeagney, Aaron Gorman, Dylan Cahill (0-03), Danny Gorman, Brian Malone, Anthony Gorman, Robbie Gallagher, Niall McCabe, Dan Daly, Eoghan Hyland., Kieran Coonan (0-03), Cein Gorman.

U13 C FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna U13 No 2 Football side picked up their second win against St Macnchans Gaels in a high scoring highly entertaining encoounter in their final group game in the U13 C Football Championship last Saturday morning in Geashill on a scoreline of 7-08 to 3-08 to make it 2 wins out of 3 in the group. The result sees Na Fianna and St Vincents finish the group joint top with 4 points each. Na Fianna secured the win with great first half scoring 4 goals, the first a fine induvidual effort from Edward Mangan, the second Edward Mangan’s shot was blocked by the keeper with Sean Kelly on hand to punch the rebound to the net, the third Sean Kelly dribbled round the keeper before tapping in and the fourth a blast from outside the square by Edward Mangan. So at half time Na Fianna were in control leading 4-02 to 0-03. In the second half Na Fianna used their full quota of subs and still managed to score 3 more goals from Doonacha Cooney, Eoin Kelly and Cian Multaney-Kelly with St Manchans scoring 2 of their 3 goals in the last 10 mins when the game was well over as a contest.

U15 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Fianna U15 Footballers complete the group stage of the Championship against St Rynaghs on Saturday week (07 Sept) @ 12 Noon in Geashill. All Support would be appreciated.
