DIV 2 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Raheen Senior Footballers overturned a 6 point half time deficit with a dramatic late finish to pick up their first win of the year against fellow strugglers Durrow in Rd 3 of the Div 2 League last Friday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 2-10 to 3-06. Raheen were second best throughout the first half and probably should have been further behind than the 2-03 to 0-03 which Durrow took into the break with the 2 Durrow goals coming in the 08th & 26th mins. Raheen got going in the second half scoring 7 points to Durrow’s 3 with 3 mins remaining. Then as the game went into stoppage time came the late drama, having been denied with at least 3 or 4 good goal scoring chances in the previous few mins Raheen were finally rewarded when a quick break up the field saw Conor Carroll on hand at the far post to punch the ball to the net. Then straight from the kickout another quick burst up the field by Raheen saw James Bryan stick out his boot to flick a cross to the net. Raheen having just taken the lead for the first time were now up by 4 points but the drama didn’t end there as 5 mins into stoppage time Durrow were awarded a penalty which they put away for their 3rd goal with the final whistle blown straight from the kickout.
