A busy week on the pitches in Monaghan

With Monaghan playing in the All Ireland Qualifiers Round 4B against Down in Croke Park on Saturday that date is left free of fixtures on the club scene but there are a number of matches on over the weekend and into next week, the chief of which are 2 games in the Junior football championship and some reserve league semi finals as well as a couple of games in the under 21 competition, divisions 1 and 2.

JFC.

The 1st of the Universal Graphics sponsored Junior football championship matches is one between Oram and Sean McDermotts which takes place tomorrow evening Friday, July 28th in Clontibret at 7:30 PM with the other game, a local affair between Aghabog and Rockcrry taking place in Gavin Duffy Park, Monaghan, on Sunday evening at 5:30 PM.

LEAGUES.

There are a number of matches in the intermediate football league at the weekend, Toome at home against Corduff on Friday evening at 7:45 PM while on Sunday Blackhill are at home against Cremartin and Inniskeen travel to Aughnamullen, those 2 games at 2 PM. There are also 2 matches in the intermediate football league on Wednesday next August 2nd both at 7:45 PM, Tyholland at home against Emyvale and Carrickmacross away at Doohamlet.

There is one game in the Junior football league on Sunday when Drumhowan enjoy home advantage against Scotstown, that one at 12:30 PM, while on Tuesday next August 2nd, Killeevan are at home against Oram, Sean McDermotts make the short journey to Smithboro to take on Eire Og and Currin travel to Rockcorry.

Wednesday next August 2nd sees a full round of matches in the senior football league, all at 7:45 PM, Magheracloone at home against Killanny, Latton away at Donaghmoyne, Ballybay with home advantage against Castleblayney, Monaghan Harps making the short journey out to Scotstown and Clontibret with home advantage against Truagh.

RFL.

Friday also sees 2 semi finals in the reserve football league, the division 1B semi-final between Castleblayney and Aughnamullen in Castleblayney at 7:30 PM while the division 2A semi-final sees Killanny with home advantage over Doohamlet that one also at 7:30 PM. The division 2B semi-final between Clones and Carrickmacross takes place in Clones this Sunday evening at 6:30 PM.

U21.

It is semi-final time also in the under 21 competition, the Division I semi final between Clan na Gael and Donaghmoyne takes place in Oram on Sunday at 12:30 PM with the division 2 semi final between Latton and Corduff taking place in Latton at the same time.

MFL.

It is getting down to the business end of things in the Connolly Meats sponsored minor football league with the division 1 cup semi finals due to take place on Tuesday evening next August 1, both at 7:15 PM, Inniskeen at home against Killanny and Magheracloone away at Aughnamullen. The Division I shield semi finals also take place on Tuesday evening next, both at 7:15 PM, Truagh at home against Scotstown and Donaghduff Gaels away at Carrickmacross while in the minor football league division 2 Castleblayney are at home against Emyvale and St Tiarnach Sarsfields have home advantage against Latton, those 2 games at 7:30 PM

HURLING.

In round 4 of the Silver Hill Foods sponsored senior hurling championship Monaghan Harps HC had a 6 points victory at home against Carrickmacross HC while Castleblayney HC had a comprehensive away victory at Clontibret. There is another round of matches in the Silver Hill Foods senior hurling championship this evening Thursday, July 27th, both at 8 PM, Clontibret at home against Monaghan Harps HC and Castleblayney HC away at Inniskeen. Sunday also sees the under 14 hurling league final between Castleblayney HC and East Cavan Gaels in Castleblayney at 12 o'clock while on Monday there are a number of games in both the under 12 and under 16 hurling leagues. In the under 12 hurling league Cootehill Celtic are at home against Castleblayney HC, that one at 6:45 PM while Monaghan Harps HC play hosts to Keady Lamh Dearg, that one at 7:30 PM. Meanwhile in the under 16 hurling league on Monday next Castleblayney HC are at home against East Cavan Gaels and Truagh a travel to Carrickmacross HC, both games at 7:30 PM.

UNIVERSAL GRAPHICS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

There are 2 games in the Universal Graphics sponsored Junior football championship this weekend, one a sudden-death affair between Aghabog and Rockcorry and the other between Oram and Sean McDermotts, both of whom won their 1st game in the series so the losers here have the safety net of the back door.
