Clontibret club notes

April 28, 2015

Senior League

Clontibret 0-10, Scotstown 2-9. We conceded two goals early on which put us on the back foot, but an understrength team fought spiritedly and could have gone on to win.
Clontibret 2-9, Inniskeen 1-9. After a slow start we eventually overcame Inniskeen in a high-tempered affair with goals from Vinnie and Dessie helping us along.
We are at home to Donaghmoyne on Saturday at 7pm.

Reserve League
We play Latton at home on Wednesday at 7.45pm.

Minor League
Clontibret 0-8, Magheracloone 2-13. We were well beaten by a strong Magheracloone team last week.
We played Carrick on Tuesday, result next week.
Next Tuesday, we are at home to Scotstown at 7.30pm.

U16
Clontibret 5-19, Killevan 4-5. We had a great win over Killevan last week with some super performances all over the pitch.
This evening we play neighbours Cremartin at home at 7pm.
On Thursday, 14th May we are away to Corduff at 7.15pm.

U14
Clontibret 8-12, Corduff 3-4. It turned out to be a comprehensive win over Corduff at the weekend with a great display from the boys.
Next Thursday, 7th May we play Blayney at home at 7pm.
We play away to St. Tiarnach's at 2pm on Saturday week, 9th May at 12pm.

U12
We take on Scotstown in the Spring League final in Cloghan on Saturday at 1pm. Best wishes to the boys.

U 8 & U10
Both our u10 and u8 teams had a blitz against Castleblayney Faughs last Saturday. Both sets of panels acquitted themselves very well with some great teamwork played in all games. All the lads are putting in a super effort and it can be seen by the way they play on the field.
A big thanks to Castleblayney for coming down to us and we look forward to returning the favour very soon.
U10 training will continue on Wednesday evenings at 6pm.
U8 training will continue Saturday morning at 10am.

U6
Our first training session for our u6s is this Friday, 1st May from 6.30pm to 7.15pm at the football field. We look forward to seeing the faces of last year along with all the new faces for this year. It will be a mixture of football and fun so if you were born in 2009 or 2010 come on down to the football field, we'd love to see you there!

Camogie
For our super, county minors, Saturday's National League final proved a huge disappointment as they fell short to Cavan on a score-line of 2-6 to 0-4. On the day, Cavan, who had an additional 5 panel members on the team that Monaghan played some weeks ago, were more skilful and physical and deserved their win. For Monaghan it is a case of 'back to the drawing board' and they will take a lot of positives from the past season, which saw them reach a provincial and national final in their first year together as a team.
Congratulations to Shauna McKeever, Chloe McGuigan, Niamh Kieran, Ríoghnach Duffy, Clíona and Sorcha McDonald, Éimear McKenna, Emily Madden, Sinéad Mohan, Sioneen Morgan and Melinda McCague who worked so hard and did the club proud throughout the provincial and National League campaigns. Many thanks also to the parents who were so supportive throughout - driving the girls to training and matches, making tea and sandwiches for visiting teams, providing drinks and snacks for the matches etc.
The team and management were absolutely delighted to be joined on Saturday by Mary Duffy who should have been lining out with them. Mary was in super form and really inspired the girls to do their best. Later she joined them at the post-match meal and then did a little bogeying at an 18th birthday party!!! I imagine the staff at St James's haematology department would have been very impressed with Mary's attitude and energy levels!!!
Our senior team recorded another win in the Division 1 League when they defeated Mullaghabawn on a score-line of 5-9 to 5-7. This week (April 29) the team plays Aghagallon in Clontibret and on Wednesday (May 6) travel to Derrymacash to take on the locals.
Meanwhile our U-14s played host to Killeavy on Tuesday evening and this proved another good work out for them. They then have quite a long break before their next competitive match which will be Tues June 16 which is an away match to Camlough. (Parents will be circulated with a new set of fixtures which were issued in the past week for the U-14 League, due to the admission of Camlough to the competition.) This will afford them lots of time for training with the U-16 panel who have a number of fixtures coming up including hosting Port Mór on Tues next May 6. Training for the U-16 panel takes place on Thursday evening at 6.30pm. Marie's U-12 group continue training from 5.30 to 6.30 each Thurs.
The 'Last One Standing' sheets will be issued this coming week and senior players are asked to ensure they have at least 10 participants sourced in advance of the football championship 'kicking off'.
Registration is now due (overdue for seniors - ahem!) and the registration sheets will be issued to all parents of underage players in the coming days. Registration for under-age players is €30 - €25 for the player and €5 for the parent.
Finally it was a hectic day in Morgan's on Saturday with Codi receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time at 12 noon while Sioneen was playing in the National Minor League final at 12.30. Unfortunately Sioneen missed the church part of Codi's big day, but Aisling G whisked her from Inniskeen as soon as the final was over. Well done Sioneen, thanks to the ever-reliable Aisling, and congratulations to Codi and all her little friends!
