Under 14's Championship Final - Last Wednesday evening saw the club take another step forward in its Juvenile development, when the Under 14 team played Sean Mc Dermott's in the Final of the Division Two Championship. With their only defeat coming this year against Sean's, the boys knew that they would be up against it. Mark O'Connor and his management team of Martin Carville, David Irwin, Raymond McHugh and Dessie McAuley had the boys very focused for the match. The lads settled in quickly with a couple of scores from Francis Mc Geough and Robbie Hanratty and they led 9 points to 2 at the end of the first quarter. Sean's rallied in for quarter two with a couple of quick scores before a goal narrowed the gap to four points, leaving the half time score Faughs 0 - 10 Sean's 1-3. The break gave this young Faughs team time to regroup, which they did to great effect and in quarter 3 added further points from Cian O'Connor, Francis McGeough and Robbie Hanratty before McGeough pounced for the Faughs opening goal to leave us 1-13 to 1-4 up at the end of this quarter. David Irwin replaced the hard working Robbie Hanratty to great effect when he opened his tally with a point before he found the back of the net with a great strike followed by another point leaving the Faughs to run out deserving winners on a score line of Faughs 2-15 Sean's 1-5. Well done to the boys and the management who showed great commitment from the start of the year, they have developed a style of football which is great to watch and will no doubt serve them well as they go chasing an Under 14's double over the next few months.
Senior team - The scheduled Senior League match this Friday evening against Currin has been called off to allow for the preparation of the County Team for the match against Kildare. Our Championship match against Doohamlet is scheduled for Saturday 16th of August at 5pm but maybe open to change as a result of Monaghan progress in the All Ireland series.
The Reserve Team -The reserve team are not in action until they travel to Drumhown on the 30th of July to play in their last league game. We are waiting for a new date for the O'Duffy Cup Final which was clashing with the Monaghan V's Kildare game .
Under 21 - The boys have an away match to Magheraclonne this Monday evening at 7.30pm in Inniskeen. The winners of this league game will advance to meet the winners of the Northern section in the Division 1 Under 21 County Final.
Minors - The Minor team will open their Championship campaign with a tough match at home to Killeevan on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm. Best of luck to the lads, they have put in some great work over the last few months under Jason Hughes, Paddy Conlon and Paddy McCann. The lads will also play Killeevan again in the league on Tuesday 29th of July in St. Marys Park with a throw in time of 7.30pm.
Under 16 Boys - The lads had a good win over Tyholland on Saturday evening in St. Marys Park which now leaves us in third place on 12 points. Best on the day was Joshua Walsh, Kyle Plummer and Ross Byrne. The team travel this Thursday night to play Doohamlet with a throw in time of 7.30pm before they play Patrick Emmett's in St. Marys Park on Thursday 31st of July at 7.30pm. Well done to the boys.
U12 Girls - It has been a quiet week for the Girls with no matches played in the last week. We have used the time to concentrate on training and improving our skills. Our final U12 league game is away to Latton this Thursday at 7pm. Training continues on Monday evening at 7pm in the pitch and again on Thursday evenings at 7pm.
Under 12 Boys - The development team travelled to Latton last Saturday and recorded a good win to secure a home Semi Final against Latton on the weekend of the 9th of August. The team played well, with some good performances from Joe Carey in goals, defenders Cian Huab and Pauric Bolger with Niall Rice and Jodie McQuillan winning the midfield battle and up front there was a good performances by Zach McArdle and young Thomas Hughes. The Senior Under 12 team play their last league game against Inniskeen on Thursday night in St. Marys Park with a throw at 7.30pm.
Under 10 Boys - The Boys had Go Games last Thursday in Magheraclonne against Clontibret, Latton and Magheraclonne, we were able to put in two teams, with both putting in good performances over the series of games. Training will continue this week on Thursday and again on Saturday morning .
Summer Camp - The McMahons Centra Faughs Summer Camp takes place on the 13th-16th August. Application forms for the camp will be available at training over the coming weeks and also in McMahons Centra & Supervalu. We ask that you return the forms as soon as possible to help us plan for what promises to be an action packed Camp.
Stars in the Faughs Eyes - if you want an enjoyable evening out, then please book Saturday 20th of September into your Diary, the Club will hold an unique evening when lots of different community groups will come together to put on show that you will definitely remember. We will realise further details over the next few weeks
Lotto- The winning numbers in this week's Lotto were 2, 6, 11 and 20. There was no winner of the Jackpot. Congratulations to Josie Marron and Elizabeth Smith (Cairde) were the two lucky dip winners. Many thanks for your continued support and good luck to everyone in next weeks' draw.
Ulster Final - Sunday proved to be a disappointing day for the County Senior footballers, Donegal got out of the blocks early and their greater determination saw them regain the Ulster Championship by three points. Faughs Senior Captain Dermot Malone was once again in the thick of the action and played well throughout, the lads must now dust themselves down before they take on Kildare on the 2nd of August in Croke Park, with a throw in time of 7pm, the winners of this tie will play Dublin the following week.
Well done - The Faughs Senior Captain wasn't the only Faughs man playing in Clones last Sunday, young Keith Morgan who plays with our Under 12 Senior team was a member of the Monaghan Schools team who played at half time in the Senior match, well done to Keith who is one of our most skilful young players in the Club, hopefully he will get the opportunity in the future to play in an Ulster Senior Football Final.
