New Walking Track

The Clontibret Walkway got great use over the festive period with people of all ages getting the benefit of it. It is open each day from 6am until 10.30pm. Patrons are asked to use the newly constructed entry and exit gate and to stay on the track as designated as well as respecting the basic rules of usage. In accordance with GAA guidelines dogs are not allowed. It is a wonderful facility to have and great praise is due to all who helped to make it happen so please respect it and the work of those who helped put it there. So the Walkway is open for use…just push through the gate and walk!

 

Presentation Evening

At a very successful presentation evening medals and awards were bestowed on those who brought distinction to the club during 2018.Members of Championship wining Under 17 team led by their captain Conor McCooey were presented with their medals along with their mentors Kevin Dunlop, Kieran Brennan and Conor Fadian. Player of the Year awards were given out at Senior, Reserve and Youth levels to Francis Hughes, Kieran Greenan and Conor McCooey respectively. Club officers Jerome Savage and Caroline McQuaid who stood down from their respective roles as Healthy Club Officer and Children’s Officer at the recent AGM were also honoured for their service to the club since 2010.A special presentation was made to Conor McManus to mark his achievements during 2018 which included a number of personal accolades including his third GAA/GPA All Star; an Irish News Ulster All Star; GAA/GPA Player of the Month for July; GAA Writers, Footballer of the Year, Ulster GAA Writers Player of the Month for May; Top Scorer in Monaghan Championship; Top Scorer in All Ireland Championship

 

Gold Rush

A great turn out of up to 300 runners and walkers with support of club players, club stewards and fellow officials meant things went perfectly at our annual athletic event.  A new course and a 3miler incorporating the new 800m track around the pitches, attracted athletes & walkers from near and far, with Mathew Kane from Ardee & Abbie Mc Carey Scotstown taking their respective 3 milers. Sean Husband, Castleshane took the 5 miler in 29mins 30 seconds and Barbara Murray, Emyvale in 34.20 For those who dressed for the occasion much appreciated, particularly Sean Mone with his 1870’s dressed pony style and Willie (Declan) Moen also reflecting the old gold rush days. Sean Mulligan and the kitchen team provided the much appreciated refreshments & service without equal. Thanks to Peader Greenan and hall committee for the venue,  Eamonn Hackett & Peter Mc Kenna Glaslough Harriers for the clock and advice, to those who manned the water stations, John Mc Donnell and Damien Evans for lead cars, Declan Fanthorpe and Donna Moen for the course, Gerry Mc Mahon amplification & music, Shane Deery for the drone Video, ONeill pipe band at mile 3, Paddy Carroll for signage and effort on the day, registrars manning the stations, Noel Craven, Eamon Joe Moen, Bogues for fruit, Benny Mone & 2 ton of Clydesdales, the Garda and Civil Defence and Declan Savage design & print. Everyone deserves the greatest of credit not just for some great running and healthy walking but also for contributing to two very worthy causes, the Monaghan Cavan Night Nurse and the Monaghan Cancer support group raising over €3,000. Special acknowledgment of the work of Eilish Clarke, leading from the front with her tireless organisation and effort is a must.  Thanks to all.
