Doohamlet club notes

December 06, 2017

A.G.M.:   Doohamlet GFC held their AGM on Friday evening last and reflected on the season past.  Highlights of the year was success of our various underage teams and being a host club for Feile 2017.  Our Senior team struggled for any momentum with injuries to key players being the reason.

Secretary Martin Connolly gave a very comprehensive report on all activities during 2017 and thanked his fellow officers and County board members for assistance during the year.

Martin also congratulated Colin Walshe who captained Monaghan Senior team during 2017 and recognised Jamie Walshe and Damian Ward who represented our club at U21 level and Hugh McGinn who was part of the Minor team.

Treasurer Bernie O'Neill gave a very detailed account of all incoming and outgoing expenditure and this report is available to all members.  Thankfully the club is in a sound financial state and Bernie also thanked everyone who helped in any way with the successful application for Grant money from the Sports Council.  Next year we hope to run a massive draw to aid the development of our sports facilities.

Youth Officer Eamon Hughes then reflected on a very successful season for our underage teams including the Championship winning Minor team.  He thanked all fellow coaches and parents for their help in any way and with three trophies on display all their hard work was rewarded.  Coaching Officer Bernard Coleman informed the meeting of all underage activities from U6 to U10's and thanked his fellow coaches for their help and he also had special praise for the U10 Community Games Parish team with special mention to Vincent McManus, Fionan Markey, Padraig Duffy and Ben McGarrell.  He also thanked all parents who  take all children to games and blitzes.

Our Chairman P.J. Meehan then reiterated all thanks and plaudits to the various coaches and had a special word of Thank You to our Senior Management Cathal McAnenly and Micky Buckley who under difficult circumstances kept our Senior team in Intermediate and wished our new manager Dessie McBennett all the best in 2018.  P.J. also thanked all our Senior players for their efforts. He also recognised the importance of all our sponsors. Our main Sponsor Gerry and Deirdre McElroy, Gerry and Agnes Duffy Eurotech, Gerry and Ann Duffy Pork & Bacon, Sean O'Neill & Damian Finnegan (Finnegan & O'Neill Plumbing) Damian O'Neill,Armon Mechanical USA. Grigg Heat, TD Freight, Doohamlet Construction and every sponsor who helped throughout the year.

He also thanked everyone who helped in any way with the various fundraising ventures during 2017.  Greg Duffy and Dessie McBennett who organised the Golf Classic, everyone who organised the Race Night and Noeleen McBennett for all her hard work with Feile 2017.  He again praised all the various underage coaches and stressed how reported the role they serve developing our future players.  Finally we had a pause to remember all who were bereaved during the year and especially a true Doohamlet Gael Paddy O'Neill.
