Need to move on. Can't keep wallowing in our self pity after yesterday. It's done and can't be undone. Unfortunately. Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6342 - 27/06/2016 19:50:13 1873003 Link 1 |
It was hard to gauge just how bad it looked on tv because when you're at the game it can look better/ worse on tv. But having talked to people who watched it 2day I doubt there'll b too much jockeying for position among sky & rte for this 1! Gonna b hard to get the lads up for it cos 2nd half was tough goin. Would commend all involved if we could go up there and get a result.

looking forward to this game..playing louth is no preparation for a Dublin game,if we want to be prepared for Dublin we got to beat Derry,Tyrone,Mayo or any other good team first,i would like to get a good run in the backdoor ,leinster is not worth a dam anymore for getting a team battle ready, knock out football cant beat it! No idea.. I don't know Jinxie four years of the same stuff. The team isn't even fit enough. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 27/06/2016 20:23:44 1873011 Link 1 |
I thought while we were in the game, that the defence was strong Sunday. If we could attack more against a poorer team than Dublin it has to be said, then we can definitely get a result.

Ziggy AGREED that is the best of what we got at present. It would be good if we could get Sean Boylan to have a "chat with the players panel or maybe take a session next week. I believe he helped the hurlers last week. Always refreshing to have a fresh experienced speaker at times like this. Im sure the lads would like to hear his input.

We simply have to beat Derry

I thought defence myself did a very good job also Jinxie..like when was the last time Dublin didn't score a goal in leinster or even get a sniff off goal,i think kerry last year and Donegal are the only 2 teams that have stop Dublin from scoring goals over the last few years in the championship and they have all stars and all ireland winning medals and mangers who are hailed as modern day geniuses! If Mod had to mix it up with the way we played Dublin in 2013 and yesterday he may have came up with a winning strategy ! i see no hang over from yesterday ..we got beat by a honest to god very good football team yesterday..you have to love playing good teams as a player...Darren Fay in 1996 wanted to play kerry in the final because he wanted to mark Maurice Fitzgerald and him only 19 years of age, and now i would love to see this Meath team play Dublin again this year ! It would be better to bring in Martin Ennis

Indeed...and it wasn't that long ago a hurling man from dunboyne had a big impact on Gaelic football

If the lads keep their heads up I think they'll win this well. We know where we stand with Dublin but I think we can beat a few teams and maybe reach a Quarter-final if the draw works out. LoyalRoyal (None) - Posts: 452 - 27/06/2016 23:00:26 1873081 Link 0 |
I'd agree with Sean Tobin and Brian McMahon starting v Derry, more strength and speed needed for this assignment. Derry are no great shakes but it's how our own heads are that will dictate how we get on, a win could open things up as I said before and we could progress a bit thereafter, it's a big game really not just for progression in the championship this year but for the development of the team going forward. I don't think our general fitness is an issue being honest but our game plan second half against the Dubs was nonsense I thought, players weren't allowed play to their strengths and as I've said I believe we could and should have come out of that game yesterday in better fettle.

Are you serious? I wouldn't wish that on any player Let them challenge against the weaker teams and try to build some sort of momentum out of this crisis and dont be fooled we are in a crisis Posters on here giving out about mod and dropping six or seven players Here is one for you all Who do you pick instead? Have you watched club football lately ? The whole problem is the standard of player? Ask yourself how many of today's team would make it on to the current dublin team Answer: none umpireview (Meath) - Posts: 55 - 28/06/2016 07:51:24 1873114 Link 0 |
The most important thing is to press high up the pitch, we all know how derry are going to play. I would also consider staring jonesy I thought he was good on sunday a natural athletic ability and can take a score. Otherwise we are into the defination of insanity which is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result. Forglory (Meath) - Posts: 85 - 28/06/2016 09:24:58 1873128 Link 0 |
