Conor Nash would be a great addition to the minors

(Oldest Posts First)

A huge game for the minor footballers on Saturday against the Dubs Stating the obvious but things are not going too well for Meath on the inter county front at the moment. And where better to get things moving but a win over the old enemy. We are told Dublin may not be great this year and that Barry Callaghan and his selectors are putting in a big effort. We should use every advantage available. Know it might upset some of the players who have trained hard over the spring months but the inclusion of Conor Nash would be a huge asset to the Royals. Could be a colossus at this level. Yes we know he is Australia bound but he did line out for Simonstown last Saturday evening. He may not be available later on but a win over the Dubs would be a huge moral booster to not alone this minor team but also to football in the county. Would be very annoying to be beaten by a narrow scoreline come Saturday evening and no Nash involved. Hope Barry and his team are making every effort to get Conor Nash back in the green and gold.

He'd be a colossal at minor level.

Couldn't see any of the panel or management having an issue with him playing, not as if he's been on the beer the last year, he's been training as a professional athlete. Plus if Meath lose it's season over. If they knock out the dubs they're in a great position to win Leinster and are guaranteed at least an All Ireland Quarter final.

saw the game on Saturday evening . Conor Nash is a brilliant athlete and one of Simonstown best performers. He would be a serious addition to minors and hopefully will be asked to play

It most certainly would upset the players already involved if a player was brought in now. In my opinion if a player cannot commit at the start of the year in the muck and cold like everyone else then they shouldn't be looked at again. Very easy for a player to turn around now and say they want to play when its May and there playing Dublin.

Agree with Bigjoe
Same thing happened last year and it did unsettle things

was he not in Australia training all year? How could he commit? Would he be expected to fly home weekly to play?

I feel it is so important that Conor Nash is involved with the Meath team tomorrow.

He didn't make himself available to play. I don't think he was in Australia training though fairly sure he was still playing Rugby as he played in the Hogan Cup for Pats this year

Nash is a good player but has opted out for whatever reason. End of story.
Well done to the 30 odd players and Management who donned the Green & Gold and did themselves and the county proud on Sat. Time to move on and work with the lads who want to play for Meath and who have demonstrated their ability to play with Meath.

I would tend to agree with you but there are other young lads who would have moved to play Minor this year but opted off the panel as if they were on the Meath panel they couldn't have played with their clubs.

Young lads shouldn't have to pick between club and county.

I hope this is changed for future years.
