Andy McEntee manages Ballyboden to the Dublin SFC

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Big congratulations due to Andy McEntee on guiding Ballyboden to an unexpected Dublin senior championship. It wouldn't be common for someone without senior inter-county management experience to even get a big club job outside of his own county. To then go on and guide them to a championship is a fantastic achievement.
It shows that we do have decent managers in the county, even if we don't appreciate them. It also shows that we don't necessarily have to look to big names when looking for a county manager.

he is a great manager and for whatever and i would argue the role is is doing with Ballyboden is nearly as big a the Meath role. In terms of back room staff, players and finances he would be on a par. Great footballing man but the face did not fit. Shame

I am not sure why YOU are allowed say that his face didn't fit Pretender, but when I suggest the same it gets cut from my original post. I agree with you though. He didn't seem to be appreciated by the county board for whatever reason.
And what ever happened to the original AndyMcEntee thread?

Are ye saying that if he were in charge of Meath we would be in a better position ? Cant bake a cake with just flour and water. Ballyboden have a fair quality of player available to them. Yes he has to get great credit for the win at the weekend but don't start a campaign to get him in as county manager

Well done Andy mc
As I said before will sooner or later get a county job and hope it's Meath
I don't think Andy and Shane put a proposal forward to county board before micko was hired or maybe even before banty not sure
But what a dream team if it happened

Ah now Brownepat - no need to start the whole North/South Meath thing again. Sure Andy is so long gone out of North Meath that he qualifies as a southerner at this stage.

Mode is the pity we didn't have a succession plan when Andy managed minors.

Wonder what the succession plan is for mod

Reco - I doubt he'll manage in Meath while his sons are playing with Dunboyne Seniors/Juniors.

No doubt McEntee is a fantastic manager and winning a Dublin SFC is a fantastic achievement, well done to all involved!

Well done to Andy McEntee, a fantastic achievement which will undoubtedly raise his stock significantly, I think it's s pity however that the success of one Meath man is used to cast a shadow on another, please let's not use the achievement of Andy McEntee as a stick to further beat MOD. I say this not as a blank defence of the man but in the interest of common decency, like him or not MOD is a real manager who is investing significant time and effort in Meath football and personally I find it unfair that people now decide to use Andy's success as a way of highlighting the difficulties O'Dowd has had and the mistakes he has admittedly made.

Agree with Richie. Paddy Carr won an All Ireland club too so less of the Andy for Meath and give MOD space. Great weekend/8 days for the county so less doom and gloom

Im not trying to pull your comment apart or anything but the last line of your comment you mention MOD has admittedly made mistakes.

I think one of the main issues people have with MOD is the fact that, to the best of my knowledge, he has not admitted any mistakes or failures on his behalf over the past few years. I do Agree with your post about not comparing the two, McEntee and MOD, as it is an unfair comparison, as one is a proven successful manager at various grades, and one is not.

Andy is a very hard taskmaster. Ask anyone that has played under him. Its relentless and no stone is left unturned for success. No doubt he is a very effective manager .

Irish_downunder you're right, maybe MOD should write you a personal letter outlining all the mistakes he has made and begging for your forgiveness. Least he could do...

You obviously don't get what I mean. On a few occasions when the fans and supporters were actually expecting and entitled to as statement from MOD in relation to the absolute garbage that we have witnessed, he hid behind closed doors and his County Board. The first step to success is realising the mistakes of the past, which he clearly hasn't.

couldn't care less to be honest about the football in meath anymore as the hurlers show more heart anyway and id rather lend my support to the people who actually care about playing for their county.
